My mom used to bake a lot of different goodies over the holidays, but these cookies were always my favourite – which was unfortunate, because they were definitely not the easiest to make.

Swiss Horns

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 egg yolks (reserve whites)
  • 3 tablespoons cream
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • Chocolate chips
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg yolks. Add cream but don’t mix yet.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, mix together flour and baking powder, then add to butter mixture and stir until well blended.

Step 3

Make into 3 balls (I make 1 ball and cut into 3 pie-shaped pieces and then roll those each into a ball).

Step 4

Roll out a ball on a floured board, lifting and moving after you first start rolling or it will stick to the board.

Step 5

Cut into 6 pie-shaped pieces.

Step 6

Put 5 chocolate chips on each wedge and roll up into horns (from large end to small end) and curve them.

Step 7

Place on cookie sheet (don’t grease it).

Step 8

Brush the tops of the cookies with the egg whites and add sprinkles.

Step 9

Bake at 350°F for 8 minutes.
