We started making Christmaspolitans in December 2020, when an awesome cocktail bar called Proof here in Calgary was selling their syrups to craft seasonal cocktails at home. I am usually dubbed the Christmas bartender at the Bronsch household, so I was sourcing cocktail recipes to add to my holiday repertoire. I ended up making a few in cans and giving them to my friends as holiday gifts, and they were a hit!
Add the cranberries to a blender or food processor and combine until almost liquid. If they are frozen, add just a touch of water to help them liquefy.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the water.
Add the cranberry blend and spices.
Bring the mixture to a simmer and stir until it starts to thicken (about 2 minutes).
Remove from heat and strain the mixture using a strainer or sheet of cheesecloth to remove the small cranberry bits. If the mixture is too thick, return to stovetop and add more water.
Transfer to a covered jar and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker.
Fill with ice and shake hard for 10 seconds.
Strain into a glass and garnish with a sprig of rosemary. Cheers!
