HalifaxHalifax is the largest urban centre in Atlantic Canada and a recent travel favourite of mine that I was fortunate to visit for the first time this year.
Halifax has something for everyone – with a brilliant array of historical museums, restaurants and pubs, and of course spectacular ocean views. I can’t wait to visit Halifax again, and I know you’ll enjoy it too!

Recommendations from Jamie
- The Residence Inn by Marriott
An affordable and centrally located hotel suited for longer stays. Plus, free breakfast every morning!
Argyle Street is a popular area for nightlife and good eats. Visit Antojo Tacos and Tequila for a Mango No. 5 margarita, and then make your way to Durty Nelly’s for a Keith’s pint (or two).
- Citadel National Historic Site The Victorian-era fort gives visitors a chance to immerse in the history of the soldiers who served here.
- Harbour Hopper tour – Recommended by a Haligonian friend, this tour was a highlight.
- Rent a car to explore nearby Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg, and the Annapolis Valley. Stop at hidden viewpoints like Houston’s Beach or Blue Rocks, go for a wine tasting at Lightfoot & Wolfville, and discover the history of l’Acadie at the Grand Pré National Historic Site.
