Kamouraska

Located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in the Bas-Saint Laurent region of Quebec, the village of Kamouraska is the perfect spot to enjoy the splendor of the St. Lawrence river and all the culinary delights of the region.

Bonjour,

It won’t surprise anyone who knows me that I found the village of Kamouraska because of a restaurant I picked out for us to stop at during a road trip back in 2019. That was our first road trip along the St. Lawrence and we’ve been back every year since. The roads along the river are windy and hilly with forests on either side and views of the river. Quebec’s passion for food comes through even in tiny villages and especially in Kamouraska. Whether it’s sitting and reading or walking along the water, this is the perfect spot to rest and recharge with delicious meals throughout the day.

Stay

  • Auberge le 112 – Although technically up the road in the even smaller village of Saint-Andre, we’ve stayed here a few times. The décor is simple, the breakfast is yummy and the host is full of great tips.

Eat

  • Boulangerie Nieman – If you want fresh-baked goods, get up early and get in line, because this place often sells out!
  • Cote Est – A casual and engaging spot that showcases foods and drinks from the region.

Drink

  • Tete d’allumette – Be sure to stop for a local beer brewed over a wood fire, and enjoy the views of the river.

Explore

  • We love to visit galleries and there are few options in Kamouraska, like Champagne et Paradis.
  • There are lots of outdoor adventures to be had in this region, though we mostly stick to trails and quiet roads along the river for leisurely walks.
