Oí,
As someone who is obsessed with frequent flyer and loyalty programs, I travel all over the world. However, as much as I love exploring new places, the one country I keep coming back to is Brazil — and I’ve just begun to scratch the surface. In addition to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, I loved visiting Salvador, a UNESCO World Heritage city that is the centre of Afro-Brazilian culture with colourful buildings and great art, and Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago 350 km off the northeast coast of Brazil.

Stay
Rio de Janeiro
Janeiro Hotel – A small, stylish property with just over 50 rooms designed by Osklen designer Oskar Metsavaht. It’s in Leblon, which has one of the more tranquil beaches in the area and great places to eat and drink.
Stay
São Paulo
Hotel Unique – Located in Jardins and designed by Ruy Ohtake in the shape of an inverted arc, it’s one of the most unique hotels I’ve stayed at. Everyone working here is incredibly friendly and the rooftop pool and bar are a treat.
Eat
Rio de Janeiro
-
CT Boucherie – French bistro with a Brazilian flare. You order your protein (the steak is fantastic) and waiters constantly come by with a ton of different sides. It’s ridiculous. You will be very full. Full, but happy.
-
Boteco Belmonte – A local chain, and great place to go after the beach for a chopp (draft beer) and a snack.

São Paulo

D.O.M. – A two Michelin star restaurant that is inventive (it’s not often you eat an Amazonian ant), but not stuffy or too formal. It’s also fantastic value coming from North America.
-
Maní – A cute little restaurant with incredible food. You have to order the bread basket. Don’t skip it. You will regret it.
-
Chou – A charming little place with modern Brazilian food and fantastic cocktails.
